WSIB-WSIAT Appeals

WSIB stands for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). The WSIB promotes workplace safety and health and administers the workers compensation system and structure in Ontario. When an employee is injured in a workplace accident and feels he or she cannot return to work, the employee and employer will turn to the WSIB for assistance

The WSIB system can be a confusing and frustrating process. Most often, injured workers are unaware of what their rights are under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and moreover are unaware of their obligations regarding issues surrounding return to work, medical treatment, and general communications with the WSIB. Often times, these workers do not seek out representation until such time as a dispute has arisen with the WSIB or with their employer, and find themselves in a situation with no income, or denied access to medical treatment.

If you are an injured worker, Swords Law LLP can assist you in understanding your rights and obligations under the Act. Our firm offers assistance in the management of your claim, including issues such as medical treatment, related expenses, and return to work arrangements. You do not have to wait until you have a dispute with the WSIB or your employer before you obtain representation.

In the event of a dispute, we will represent you at WSIB and if necessary, before the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT).
